Academic Profile and Competencies

This doctoral program has been designed to train researchers within the field of Civil Engineering.

It provides the following competencies:
  • A systematic comprehension of a particular field of study as well as a thorough knowledge of its related skills and methods.
  • Ability to conceive, design or model, put in practice or choose a particular process of researching.
  • Ability to contribute to the development at the frontiers of the knowledge addressing an original research.
  • Ability to synthetize, analyze or assess critically new complex ideas.
  • Ability to communicate and explain advanced ideas or knowledge for the academic community or for Society.

Line 1. DESIGN, PROJECT, PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION IN CIVIL ENGINEERING.

Research groups involved in the program

All individual researchers and research groups of the Civil Engineering School of Santander can participate in this doctoral program, always under the conditions expressed in the national regulation (RD 99/2011).

The program is open and welcomes as well the collaboration and participation of other national or foreigner people and organizations, according to the usual collaboration ways: shared supervision, stays, visits, etc.


Research Projects

In the last five years, the research activity on civil engineering of the groups or departments involved in this program reaches an amount of 181 projects, distributed as follows:

  • 9 projects funded by UE.
  • 47 projects funded by the Spanish national plan of R&D.
  • 125 projects funded by private contracts signed with companies or public administration.
